Akki Roti

Akki Roti step by step instructions:

Akki Roti” recipe comes from Karnataka. It is a roti prepared from rice flour, very delicious and healthy too. Making it requires a bit of trick; and as we all know that practice makes a man perfect, Akki roti will too come perfect with a bit of patience and practice.


Let us start cooking!!!

Ingredients:
Rice flour: 1 cup
Fresh Coconut: 1 tbsp (grated)
Onion: 1 medium (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves: 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Green chili: 2 (finely chopped)
Coriander powder: 2 tsp
Red chili powder: ¼ tsp (Optional)
Ginger: 1 tsp (grated)
Cumin seeds powder: 1 tsp
Water: approx. 1/3 cup
Ghee for making the roti
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. In a plate mix together rice flour, onions, Coriander leaves, Green chili, Coriander powder, Red chili powder, Ginger, and Cumin seeds powder.


2. Add water and knead into soft dough.


3. Divide the dough into 6 parts.
4. Heat tawa/griddle.
5. Take one part of the dough and keep on the tawa. With the help of water spread the dough on the tawa itself into a thin roti (as much thin as possible). Even the roti with the help of a flat ladle.



6. Drizzle ghee on the sides.
7. Let the roti cook on one side on low flame.
8. After 2-3 minutes flip it and let it cook for other 3-4 minutes.


9. Drizzle ghee.
10. Take out the roti on a plate.
11. Similarly prepare other rotis too.
12. Serve Akki roti hot with pickle, curd etc.


Tips:
1. If you are unable to make the roti directly on the tawa then you can make it in between greased plastic sheets.
2. Apart from onions you can add any other vegetable also.
